National Police Award for Traffic Safety, CACP
Accident Support Services International Ltd. has the honour to sponsor a number of awards which recognize individual officers or Police agencies for dedication to community well-being through citizen education and engagement, including pro-active safety programs. Our President Steve Sanderson attended the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Award Ceremony to present the National Police Award for Traffic Safety to Sergeant Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police, Highway Safety Division.
This award recognizes excellence, initiative dedication and outstanding contributions to road safety through training, education, enforcement or community-based programs. Sgt. Schmidt was nominated for the Public Safety through Social Media campaign. Using many social media programs, he provides up to date information to media outlets and the public, offering his numerous followers with current traffic conditions and event updates. Sergeant Schmidt was presented with this prestigious award for his exemplary leadership in the development of the OPP’s very successful social media program delivering safety messaging.
