Accident Support Services International Ltd. is proud to be among the community minded organizations supporting the “31 Division Community Police Liaison Committee Bursary Awards”. Toronto Police Service’s 31 Division Station on Norfinch Drive in Toronto was the setting for the 5th Annual Award Presentation Ceremony. The Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) is a group of civilian volunteers that meet on a monthly basis. They are a bridge between the Police Service and the local community, and assist in prioritizing and problem solving of local policing issues. The members of 31 CPLC have identified Youth Issues as one of the areas in which they wanted to focus. 10 high schools service the 31 Division area, and each school is allotted 1 Bursary Award each year.
The Bursary Award Program assists local youth to achieve educational goals and marketable skills through further education and apprenticeship programs. The 2005 recipients were: Amy Cook, Emery Collegiate Institute; Tina Harrison, Downsview Secondary School; Mark Angel Intal, Chaminade College School; Zobair Joian, C.W. Jeffreys Collegiate Institute; Cavallee Jones, Madonna Catholic School; Elizabeth Miller, Weston Collegiate Institute; Lesly Perez, James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School; Coleen Amanda Ricketts, Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute; and Eva Suchanicova, St. Basil-the-Great Collegiate School.
Bursary Chairperson Ellen Hudgin and TPS Superintendent Glenn DeCaire did a great job of co-hosting the evening’s festivities. ASSL is delighted to be able to support very worthwhile program honoring these very special young people. For more information about the CPLC, please call (416) 828-6245 ext. 72012. |
