10th Anniversary Celebrated at Queens Park
The Legislative Dinning Room at Queens Park, Toronto was the venue for Accident Support Services 10th Anniversary Celebration on February 1, 2005.
Along with members of the media, government officials, police dignitaries and key representatives from the insurance industry were on hand to mark the occasion.
Steve Sanderson, President and founder of Accident Support Services gave a speech depicting some of the history of collision reporting centers, and what they have meant to the communities that adopted the concept.
The addition of the Collision Reporting and Occurrence Management System (CROMS) ensured this to be the most efficient way to report a collision, collect the data, and share it with other stakeholders, anywhere in the world!
Staff Superintendent Gary Grant of the Toronto Police Service (TPS) addressed the guests, and stated how proud he is that TPS was an important participant in the development of the collision reporting center program. Not only did this eliminate the danger of possible secondary collisions for his Officers investigating a crash at the scene, but it has freed up police for pro-active enforcement and more important calls for service. He stated that his motto has always been “I would rather prevent an accident than investigate one”.
The event also marked the renewal of the Agreement with the Toronto Police Service. The program has proven to be such a success that the Toronto Police Services Board, who had initially granted a ten year contract for the Collision Reporting Centers, has just renewed the agreement for another term.
Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino stated that the CRC’s “have been of great benefit to all parties involved,” and that in particular “the Toronto Police Service has recognized the efficiencies that the program has brought to our operations.’ ‘The Program puts an additional 50 Officers back on the street.” |
